TinyURLs are being used more and more, reducing the address of a Website to 5 or 6 digits, and greatly reducing the risk of error when typing a printed URL. TinyURL Creator is an add-on for Firefox. TinyURLs are sometimes found in Posts and Comments here. BUT you cannot see where it refers to and are relying on the source being safe and the sender checking the URL.
You can check each TinyURL yourself with LongURL Mobile Expander, another Firefox add-on. It works by showing a bright yellow box containing the real address whenever the mouse pointer is hovered over a TinyURL.
All add-ons should be obtained from a safe site such as Mozilla Firefox. In Firefox, click on Tools, Add-ons, Extensions, Get Extensions
So far I haven't found IE versions
