Sending big pictures - DON'T
DO send a small one and ask if the full size is wanted
Or use, free, Drop.io , Gigasize.com , SendSpace.com or You-sendit.com
Shrink Pic automatically detects when you're sending large photo files and compresses them in the background. There's no setup, no operating instructions, nothing. Just send your photos normally and Shrink Pic takes care of shrinking them. Read about it and get it from http://tinyurl.com/h2te3 Try sending a photo to yourself to assess the results.
PIXresizer, does this differently and it does it well, easily and quickly. Select your file, click "Apply Recommended" and choose where to save it and you have a JPeg file suitable for e-mailing or a website. But it will do much more. Any image can be changed to any smaller size in any format and/or converted to grayscale. The aspect ratio, width/height, can be retained or changed and thumbnails can be created. It will also deal with batches of files and if desired will convert them all to the same width or height. Originals remain unchanged, with the converted file being named, by default, the same with the new resolution added to the name.
Think of the uses apart from e-mailing. Keep valuable images of optimum size on DVDs or CDs with small jpeg copies on your hard disk, find the smallest size for files of document photocopies, and you will think of more
