ANNOYING PROGRAMME SCRAP
Can anyone advise how to fix this? Each time when my computer has booted there is a small text box with the heading DIRECT OCR Error, and, underneath, Error starting Direct OCR. If i click OK, the text box then disappears. It's clear this scrap relates to one of my printer/scanner programmes. I have un-installed one but I still have the scrap, which is irritating and I would like to zap it.

Have yo run ccleaner both for cleanup of files and the registry checker?
Give that a go and see if it works
Googling Direct OCR error unhelpfully linked it with many programs. Googling Direct OCR seemed to link it with Omnipage mainly, and Word. If you run Omnipage I suggest you look there if Marcel's suggestion doesn't fix it.
Keep us posted; there are other approaches. Are you in XP or Vista?
