My favourite program, PowerDesk 5.0, is a file manager to replace or run alongside Windows Explorer. I use the free version which can be downloaded from http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/downloads/2128843/powerdesk
It has been in constant use for about 10 years for the following reasons. The list is far from complete and will be added to from time to time in this post.
* All Drives - CD included - are shown in a Drive bar: clicking on one opens it in the active pane.
* Links to programs may be placed in a Launch bar. Files dragged to one are opened in it.
*It may be run in Single pane (Ctrl+1) or Dual pane horizontal (Ctrl+2) mode
* Dual pane may be vertical (Ctrl+3)
*Each pane has a tree panel and a file panel
*A viewer pane (F9) shows the contents of any file.
* Zip files are treated as folders, no Winzip required.
*File Find (F3) is quick and powerful and will find by location, attributes, contents or type or any combination

Among my favourite programs is Free Download Manager. Being able to resume downloading from the Internet when you have been cut off halfway through a lengthy download is really great and sure beats having to start all over again.

After Marcel has it fingers in my broken down computer, I think Nero Backup will be my favorite program.
It created three back up cds and only I lost some later added pictures, not a big problem because my daughter will have the original ones some were on a cd.

I find the Legacy Program for genealogy which is free to down load & is very user friendly & sets your work out in easy format for the members of the family that are not so interested in family history .I just went to Google tool bar & entered Legacy & found it & followed the process to download.I also managed to import the information from the older version I was runnong my old computer & it upgraded it into new format for me .
