Having a gmail address has other benefits apart from Blog access. I use it if I have to supply an address to a person or site I do not fully trust or know. Gmail has a very efficient spam filter. I have it set to forward all mail to my main address but to keep it on the gmail server which I visit from time to time to delete or archive mail. It can be set up like this
If not already there and logged in, go to http://mail.google.com and log in
Click on Settings (near your gmail address)
Click on “Forwarding and POP?IMAP” tab
Click button before “Forward a copy of incoming mail to”
Go to bottom of page and save settings
Perhaps other uses or modifications could be added in comments

Denis - I tried those steps to have my gmail forwarded to my xtra address, but when I got to the last step (save changes) I just kept getting an error box saying it was an invalid address - spaces are not allowed. I cannot figure this out as there are no spaces in either my xtra or gmail addresses (obviously).
Also, I cannot figure out how to start a new "thread". Could you post a few steps on how to start a new thread, or topic. Bob M
Robert,
The first query: I have encountered this error message elsewhere for no apparent reason but once when I copied and pasted the address in and caught a space at the beginning (could have been the end. It took a lot of finding.
This may not be the solution
Second query: It's not intuitive. They call it a New Post and these words are in a colour of poor contrast just following your email address at the top of the Landlines page. Clicking this opens a new window which is a simple text editor. When finished you may use the preview option at the end of the tool bar and if happy click Publish Post, bottom left.
